Frage von : Where can I find two contrasting monologues?
I have to find two contrasting monologues (one comedy, one drama) by Monday. They need to be “inner monologue” style, as they are for a voice over demo which I’m recording. Does anybody have any suggestions? Any you’ve worked on or read? Or any websites which might be useful? Please help!!

·I realize how difficult it is for beginning actors to read as many plays as they should so I am offering this page of help to one and all. Examine the sources below to find monologues you like, then get a copy of the play and read it so you understand the context of the speech. Then work it up and you are ready to go. God bless, Doc

Two suggestions I have seen performed at pageants:
    Phenomenal Woman-Maya Angelou
Puppies Speech-Cruella Deville from 101 Dalmatians

You didn’t say the age…if she is a teenager the first would work, otherwise number two can be really played up for younger girls.

Step1Create a flawed character: someone who is insecure, socially awkward, irrationally hotheaded or extreme in any way.

Step2Imagine putting that character in a tense situation, such as a confrontation, a break-up, a confession of some sort or any other heightened, pressurized moment.

Step3Become the character. Tape record yourself or take notes as you begin to try and get yourself out of a precarious situation.

Step4Be sure to vary the moods or tactics—don’t be one-note, such as angry the whole time. Let your character be manipulative or unpredictable with his or her reactions and emotions.

Step5Imagine something unexpected happening in the middle of the character’s monologue—something that is out of the character’s control and changes the direction of the monologue.

Step6Develop some recognizable physical or verbal characteristics/patterns throughout the monologue that become heightened until the end, when they either get in the way of the character or are dropped completely as the character reveals his or her true self.

Step7End on a high-energy note, with the character more perplexed than ever, or self-deceived or confrontational.
